Who
We Are...
In
June 1997, a very unique program was transferred from the
Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources to The Ontario Aggregate
Resources Corporation. This program became known as MAAP,
which stands for Management of Abandoned Aggregate Properties
Program.
What
We Do...
The
MAAP Program is dedicated to the rehabilitation of abandoned
aggregate pits and quarries in areas of Ontario that are
designated under the Aggregate Resources Act. MAAP is entirely
funded by the aggregate industry, paid for by producers,
through a ½ cent per tonne of the annual license
fee
Why
We're Proud...
To date, over 4.5 million has been spent to rehabilitate
almost 420 hectares of land. These lands have seen transformations
from otherwise non-productive end uses to agricultural,
wetlands, grasslands and recreational areas.
