MAAP Presentation at OSSGA Rehabilitation Tour

Mr. David Beamer gave a presentation on "Enhancing Habitat for Rare and Endangered Species" at the Ontario Stone Sand and Gravel Association (OSSGA) Rehabilitation Tour on Sept. 25th, 2008. The presentation focused on rehabilitating Species at Risk (SAR) on aggregate propertites and introduced the latest TOARC publication entitled Best Practice Guidelines for Aggregate Rehabilitation Projects: Extracting the Benefits for Species at Risk and Rare Habitatats. MAAP Presentation at OSSGA Annual General Meeting

At the invitation of the Ontario Stone Sand and Gravel Association (OSSGA), Mr. David Beamer provided an overview of MAAP rehabilitation rojects and research initiatives to OSSGA members and other guests at their Annual Meeting on Feb. 22nd, 2008. The Honourable Donna Cansfield, Minister of Natural Resources and Mr. Gord Miller, Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, were two notable guests in attendance. Mr. Beamer’s presentation covered a number of innovative rehabilitation applications including the potential for rehabilitating pits and quarries to restore habitat for Species at Risk. David Beamer joins MAAP

MAAP has hired David Beamer to be the new Coordinator of Science and Research. Prior to joining The Ontario Aggregate Resources Corporation, David was the Executive Director/Environmental Project Manager of the Niagara Restoration Council (NRC), responsible for designing and implementing stream restoration, forest restoration, and other habitat restoration/preservation projects. Prior to his work with the NRC, David managed 6,000 acres of diverse wildlife habitat as the Superintendent of the Hullett Provincial Wildlife Area in Clinton, Ontario.

MAAP partners with ORNGE!

A new partnership between ORNGE, a transport medicine organization that was created in July 2005 by the province of Ontario’s Ministry of Health to coordinate all aspects of Ontario’s air ambulance system and MAAP will potentially see some abandoned sites being used as Helipads for this service. Jesse Long joins MAAP

MAAP is pleased to welcome their new Coordinator of Rehabilitation and Construction Jesse Long. Jesse is a recent graduate of the Civil Engineering Technology program at Fanshawe College. He has extensive knowledge of land management and layout designs. He is applying to become certified in his field through OACETT (Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists).
